This is one of my favorite local places. The menu has lots of unique items, and everything I've tried so far has been really, REALLY good. If you like Shrimp or crab dishes you'll be in heaven here. As for service - the waitstaff is friendly and helpful, and the place just has a great "vibe" to it that makes it impossible not to have a great time.

I came here for drinks and ended up getting french fries (4.00) and nachos (6.00) which I did not like because of the cheese. Bartenders/waiter were mediocre. A lot of televisions (broadcasting sports), and bad music which means not my kind of bar. If you like sports (and like watching and eating/drinking at the same time), are a carnivore and enjoy 90's rock, you'll probably like this place. I pass.

Ate here for the first time tonight. I'm not a pub person. I don't like Sports Bars. That being said I thought it was a fun neighborhood place. Waitress was sweet and friendly. My patty melt wasn't cooked through. They couldn't have been nicer about taking care of bringing me a new sandwich. Crab pretzel was tasty and something new. My friend enjoyed her dinner. Some other reviewers need to relax. Realize It's a neighborhood pub. The wait staff are teenagers. This isn't a Steven Starr restaurant. Don't expect expert service. Go open minded. I got what was expected. Good pub food, loud atmosphere and a friendly smile. We're considering making it a mid way point to meet friends from far reaching Delaware Valley area.

Love this place! I hit up MaGerk's every time I'm in town. My favorite item on the menu is the crab pretzel! Great food all around. Fun atmosphere. They had a great live band the Saturday night I was there. Kitchen closes at 11pm on weekends.

Oh MaGerks, with your bacon vodka bloody mary, you won my heart. And then came the food....deep fried pickles and the BEST PATTY MELT EVER!! The wings were yummy and cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy crunchy. The staff was decent and attentive. I' have to say a solid four stars (and counting)

We love magerks! Great cheesesteaks and apps! You must try the crab pretzel. Lots of TV shows to watch the games as well as outdoor seating with fire pit. Never disappointed.

This bar is clean, has a good atmosphere, and the food was excellent! I took a girl here recently. We had the cheesesteak egg rolls, tempura pickles, French onion soup, a salad, 2 beers, a couple sodas, and a coffee. The bill was $44.00 which I though was pretty cheap. My only complaint is that we were buried in a corner in which we weren't able to watch the Flyers game. I'm definitely going back to this bar soon!

The bartender (50ish-year-old woman wearing a too-young-for-her army hat) left dirty dishes from a previous customer in front of me for way too long and acted annoyed she had to clear them. She repeatedly coughed in her hand while behind the bar and never washed her hands. She left her disgusting water glass next to my food and then proceeded to eat her meal at the bar. Awful awful service, truly repulsive. I'll never return.

Big, fun place. It's always packed with patrons. Menu is pub grub, but it has some unique options. Our waitress was friendly, but messed up most of the orders.

Deep fried pickles = 3 stars right away... Awesome ! However, the food is really greasy... The service is decent, and the atmosphere is pretty cool if the weather is nice and you are able to get a seat outside. It's a fun place to go with friends to kick back an relax if your not in the mood to trek into Philly...

Average pub food. One person at door was very rude and obnoxious demanding a $5 cover when a person in our group was there for dinner! Became belligerent and downright nasty and started swearing!! We spoke with a manager at the bar and were brushed off and told that the person at the door is not like that normally! (Guess it means he must only be like this some of the time??!!??) Great place to go if you like being treated poorly, threatened, and cursed at by the person at the door - so much for making a good first impression as you arrive!

Went for lunch Sunday. It was a quiet, rainy afternoon. First, the food was awesome. The crab nachos are amazing. All the portions were huge-we took home enough for dinner AND lunch today. And also, our waiter was the best! I think his name was Brandon or Brendon but I am not sure--should have paid attention!!! He noticed my car door was open - must have tried to close it on my seatbelt - and he went out and closed it for me-in the pouring rain! Great service, great food, huge portions.

I am HOOKED on MaGerks! Don't let first looks fool you - it's no average local pub found in the United States suburbs! When was the last time you had SUSHI from a pub? Yeah, didn't think that answer came easy to your mind :-) And the cooked sushi that I had during happy hour was prepard well and was enjoyed by yours truly! Actually, here's what truly floored me about MaGerks: I stopped by on a Tuesday evening just to relax with a beer and chicken flatbread...and the pub was just as crowded as it was on a weekend! Seriously, the 'burbs are IN LOVE with this establishment! So, why didn't I give MaGerks 5/5 stars? If only I didn't have the brussel sprouts with blue cheese that ONE TIME...too much blue cheese, too much overwhelming my palette. MaGerks - don't get too haughty!!!

Went here for the first time and it was great. There is plenty to chose from on the menu, and it has some appetizers that most pubs wouldn't. We had the fried pickles and it was enough to feed 4 or 5. They were delicious Dinner was delicious and the service was great. It's a fun environment and it's really clean and well kept. I for sure will go back!

Came here on a whim after a work conference down the road. I got the special which was a turkey and Brie sandwich --- it was delicious. The Eagles wings were also a neat concoction and they were very good! Beer selection is on point.

I don't think MaGerk's could have packed in one more person on Saturday night. The room on the far right was jam packed. They had a great band playing Beatles and Dead covers. The dance floor was hopping. The center room was more densely populated than Calcutta, as patrons watched the March Madness games. And our private room on the left was a great place for our party to enjoy a great meal of chicken parm, salad, roast zucchini, and ziti. The chicken parm was excellent! All of the employees we interacted with, from the parking valet to the bartender to the servers were polite and very pleasant. I was just visiting the area for the weekend, so I have no idea how much local competition MaGerk's has, but from what I saw, they own this zip code!

What a good find near work! My office just moved here and we're used to Bensalem with endless options. I went here after work with a friend for dinner. We went on a Wednesday night so sushi was $5 and they had beer specials. Sushi at a pub and grill? Weird, right? But delicious. Not the best sushi I've had, but for $5... You can't afford not to. I also got the tomato soup and adult grilled cheese on a pretzel roll. Delish. What a unique way to serve tomato soup, they put in a crock bowl and melt cheese and croutons on top of the soup. The service was awesome too. I'll definitely be back!

I am at the New location in Horsham Pa this is my 2nd time here. The bar staff sucks. You have to flag someone down to get a drink. The 1st time I waited 15 mins and left. Came ba,k to try again today. This time after 10.mins I flagged someone down. I was not the only one that had to do this. All you G women bartenders they need some men or people with more experience. However the you G lady who waited on our table was good but the menu is extremely limited an extreme disappointment. Guess I'll be going back to Ft Washington at least three the food menu is big the service is good but still not a variety in the type of staff no people of color. Not a good look MaGerks you must diversify.

Great place for happy hour drinks outside! There is a good amount of outside seating with a full bar and televisions. The food is also very good! It has a spacious inside if you prefer to not be outside. I've only been here twice at night and it is hit or miss in regards to the crowds. I recommend more for happy hour on a nice spring, summer or fall day.

I came here to meet some friends on a Thursday and arrived at 12:45. There were a good amount of people and even some on stage singing karaoke. By 1 the bartender informed us she was doing last call. When I ordered a drink she kept her eyes on her phone while taking my order. I felt as though she really didn't want to give me a drink at all. I could notice staff pushing all the patrons out of the bar in a timely fashion. She forced us to close out our tabs by 12:30 and fill out credit card slip. This made no sense to me considering there was a good amount of people in the establishment. The whole experience was unpleasant and I can't say I will be giving them any further business.

Just went to the new MaGerks in Horsham. Our waitress,Jamie was so adorable. She was very attentive without being pushy. The food was great! I recommend the nachos, really good. Can't wait to go back

Used to be the Bent Elbo. When it was the Elbo I came here all the time with co-workers. Seems more like a family place now. Food was okay.

Average bar food at best. Extra star for all the variety in good options and extensive draft list, but not a place I'll be visiting again soon. Waffle fries were so salty that I gave up on eating them. Decent enough of a place for happy hour, but look elsewhere for dinner.

  • Rachie T.

Magerks is okay. The place is way too loud if a band is playing and it takes way too long to get a drink in this place. The band is usually pretty terrible and out of tune depending on who is playing. There's one bartender who works in the stage bar and she really needs to learn how to make drinks. I had a melonball that tasted way too strong of melon liqueur. The food is pretty decent. I recommend not having their pulled pork. They say it's cooked in its own juices but it tastes a little too BBQ ish to me. Nachos, fried shrimp tempura, crab pretzel, and their sushi is actually pretty damn good.

Old part of review-Great place I go there at least once a week.Stay away from the bartender with the long blonde hair she is not pleasant at all!Bar rescue should come teach her people skills- eye contact, smile and be happy to have a job!Busy or not she never seems happy and act likes shes doing you a favor! If it wasn't for the other bartenders Id never get anything she blankety ignored me.Customer service is important and she does not have it!Everyone else does a great job!Kevin is the best!If it wasn't for the other people here I'd not go back.Food is great and nice crowd.Great specials! They have sushi also but recently changed their rolls I miss the some of the other rolls! (April 2015 )Went back recently and most of the staff (wait staff)were very unkept -brush your hair put on a clean outfit your handling peoples food.luckily my waitress was well groomed and very pleasant!

Awesome food I had the McNeil fries and it was soo good! Best fries around I'm def coming back here again next week lol my boyfriend had the cheesesteak and it was also really good. The wait staff was awesome as well de a place to visit

  • Michael R.

I have to agree with a good number of reviews. Great place to catch a game, average gastro-pub fare, but below average to poor customer service. I think this place would dominate the area if they trained their staff to be more attentive and courteous.

  • Sarah H.

Food was terrible. Seriously. Nachos were cold and the cheese was clumpy and hard. My sliders had a weird taste and were extremely overcooked. Our waitress was also totally inattentive, kept leaving before taking everyone's order, and could not seem to understand the concept of splitting a check. This is the second time I've been here and I was TRYING to give them a second chance but after terrible food both times and horrible service to boot I will not be back. The bar area seems like it's hopping when there's a game on, though.

Had to go based on recommendations from locals. Great sports bar! We sat inside, but it would have been a great October night outside...they have a really nice patio with good seating, a nice bar and the tornado-style flame heaters. We sat in the bar area in order to get our fill of sports on a Thursday night...baseball, football and basketball. Major love goes to our server, Kyle, who happily changed the nearest TVs to the games that we wanted. On top of that, he was super-fast and friendly. Our beers were in our hands 3 minutes after ordering them. Food was good. I refuse to get drawn into the battle of who serves the "true" Philly cheesesteak, so I'll just say that I ordered the #1 and it was goooood. Hot, fresh, and just the right size...about 10". On top of that, we went (unknowingly) on $5 cheesesteak night. He let me sub edemame for the fries that come with the sandwich, which was right in my wheelhouse. Overall, a great experience that lost one star solely because of a massive group of college age kids who were enjoying being unnecessarily loud while partially blocking the TVs as they waited for karaoke to start in the back room.

Great crab dip! The service, not so much. At my first visit our server was wonderful (I forget his name.) Very enthusiastic, funny, and attentive. With the awesome food it was a great experience. However, I have been there several times since then, and the service has been consistently sub-par. No one greets you, no one seats you, they just stare at you like you're an unwelcome guest, slap some napkins on your table, and walk away. Be prepared to wait a long time for drinks, and don't expect any sort of pleasant attitude from the waitstaff from the moment you walk in the door until you leave. Not even a "thank you" with the check. The service reflects a team that's short-staffed, yet there always are several employees standing around doing nothing. I always tip well regardless, but at this place sometimes it pains me to do so. That being said, the food has always been great. Their sushi and burger specials are awesome! So for me, it evens out. Hopefully they'll pick up their game as far as service goes.

You have to have really bad service for me to complain. The bar had maybe 15-18 people. There was 2 maybe 3 bartenders working. Just because it is empty on a Friday night doesn't mean that you have to treat us like we are not even there. Took for ever to get drinks and they looked at our empty drinks a few times. Isn't the first time I had bad service when they are slow, normally they have great food. If I am an inconvenience let me know, I will go else where on a Friday night before midnight. That burr brown hair female bartender is terrible. Not even a 1 out of 5! I wasn't the only customer that noticed this either.

I this is a go-to spot for us. The menu has everything (even sushi which is great- just make sure you go on the sushi deal night though). My favorite meal to get is the spicy shrimp wrap with the edamame side. Oh, and the BEST fried pickles I've ever had. Awesome! The tables and stools are a bit too high for my taste.. Wish they had real booths. But they did just add a fabulous outdoor seating and bar that is fantastic for warm weather. I've had birthday get togethers there, got a hug from the Philly Phanatic at dinner once, and it's a great happy hour place.

We finally got to give MaGerk's a try last night. It ended up being a good place for our mood. It was Saturday night and there was a dj, a pretty loud room and good drink specials. The service was quick and the appetizers were pretty good. I'll say that the food was a bit pricier than I thought it should be. We ordered a $20 party plate of sweet potato fries. Definitely wasn't that good or big. Overall it was a fun experience. Keep in mind, this review is targeted toward their Saturday night party atmosphere. I will right an update when I go again during more normal hours.

I had been here a few times for trivia, but never to eat until Friday. I arrived around 5pm and the place already had a decent crowd. They have two bars and plenty of seating. I sat at the front bar and was greetede immediately by Kevin. He was friendly and engaged in conversation. I was waiting for my husband so it was nice chatting with someone while I waited. I made it there for happy hour. Though I'm not a huge fan of bars who have happy hour from 4p-6p, but I ordered the house pinot grigio and perused the menu. I found it a little odd for a irish-y type bar to have a sushi menu. I didn't order it, but it certainly peeked my interest. Another item that jumped out at me was their crab stuffed deviled eggs. I'm a huge fan of deviled eggs, however, I'm a purist. All I need is a little mayo, mustard, salt and paprika and I'm happy. I was afraid that they would stick a bunch of junk in it and ruin the purity. I was wrong. They were great. I wish we got 3 eggs (or six halves), instead of 2 eggs for $7, but otherwise they were great. My husband ordered the boom boom chicken sandwich, I was happy to see it was grilled and not fried. The boom boom sauce was decent, but not the best I've ever had. I order the basil pesto blackened chicken flatbread with arugula and goat cheese. It was good, but I wish it was saucy. The pesto dried out. The flavor was there, but it was a little hard to eat without some sort of sauce. I did try to add some balsamic dressing, but that overpowered it. This place has your typical bar food menu with the speciality type stuff like sushi sprinkled throughout the menu. The prices over all are very reasonable. I would certainly go back again.

Been coming here for years now. Descent beer selection Have been pleased with just about anything that I have ordered food wise. Cobb salad is exceptional Tomato bisque is also exceptional Roast beef sandwich (the Godfather) superb Good burgers, Mon night 1/2 price burgers Always had good servers, but tend to not go when it's crazy busy

Good local bar. HUGE space. They have 4 bars total within this place; 3 inside and 1 outdoors that is relatively new. they have pretty good cover bands, good specials and some kind of event most nights. Their trivia is a fun one! Good spot to watch games and their food is excellent. I love their tomato soup and candied walnut salad, they also have great sandwiches including the cheesesteak and Reuben. They have good fried pickles too! I don't think I have ever had a bad meal there. Some of their bartenders are 'eh' but if you want to watch a game or listen to music with a beer and good food, this is your place.

This is the second time in a month that I have received sub-par service at MaGerk's Fort Washington. If you are swamped, close the patio. If you are swamped, pull bartenders to serve and call in bar-backs. If you are swamped, 86 things on the menu to sell your most popular item on "half-off sushi night". BUT START WITH EMPLOYING PEOPLE WHO SPEAK, WHO RETURN TO REFILL DRINKS, WHO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES WHEN THEY APPROACH THE TABLE, AND WHO DON'T MAKE PROMISES AND THEN DISAPPEAR FOR 15 MINUTES. Drinks don't take 15 minutes to make, people...not wine and beer. I remember this location when it was The Bent Elbow - post its prime. I could go in and see a former FELL little league coach who knew my dad and joke with him while having a beer. At Thanksgiving the place would light up with celebrating former STHS students; you knew you could run into old friends there on Thanksgiving Eve. When BE closed, I was sad for my community to lose a place like "Cheers" - where you could go and everyone knew your name, what drink you wanted, and whom you were hanging with that night. They knew you and your family and they enjoyed talking with you. MaGerk's is now on fire with sales, the parking lot is never empty. When I come home from living out of state for visits, it is a nice place to meet friends; because most everyone knows where it is, or has driven past and noticed it's parking lot overflowing. And until recently, it made sense to me that they were doing great business...but over the last month I've had two very horrible experiences there with the service. The first experience was addressed by an owner and she was gracious enough to buy me and my friend a round of drinks on the house to make up for the previous poor service. That was maybe 2 weeks ago. The person providing poor service is a service manager who also tends bar. HAS ANYONE HEARD OF A MANAGER WHO ALSO SERVES OR BARTENDS? SHOULDN'T THESE PEOPLE BE ROAMING THE RESTAURANT LOOKING FOR CUSTOMER FEEDBACK AND WATCHING SERVICE? Last night, we requested to sit on the patio because the weather was gorgeous. We ordered drinks at the bar and closed out with the bartender and waited about 20 minutes (as promised by the patio hostess) for our seats. There was a singer there playing nice music. The hostess sat us and the server promptly visited the table. We told him we knew what we want and ordered 4 rolls of sushi. We then waited for an hour without our server returning to ask about refills on drinks or waters. Outside of two bartenders, he was the only server we saw on the patio from 6-8p. He was obviously swamped and overwhelmed and had no help (aside from the hostess who was bringing new patrons waters, to start). When I asked the hostess if we could move inside, both she and the server came to the table. The server said the kitchen was backed up, but that our food would be out if we just waited a few more minutes and he offered to refill our drinks (mind you we have already been sitting here for at least 25 minutes without drinks). I politely said "We'd like to go and so that it doesn't affect the business or him, we'll take the sushi with us." He said, "Okay, it'll be right out" and walked away. A tall woman, who was bartending outside earlier, with short hair approached the table and said "We are swamped and the kitchen is running behind on sushi. Can I comp you guys some drinks while you wait?" We said "Yes and thank you" and she walked away. She didn't ask what kind of drinks (she assumed they were on the bill, when we had closed out at the bar earlier so as not to jip the bartender on a tip). We sat waiting for 15 more minutes, when I turned I saw a woman (who arrived after us) sitting at the bar, receive a roll of sushi from the bartender. I had it. We got up and as we left we asked the hostess to apologize to the server, and that we understand he is swamped. I almost feel bad posting this because I feel like there are some pretty basic things this place is getting wrong that will eventually drive them out of business, and it seems quite obvious to me. Managers ONLY manage. Servers RETURN TO TABLES AT LEAST EVERY 15 minutes. Managers introduce themselves when the approach a table and do not make excuses, only concessions. When I report you for poor service and I return because I believe it is an isolated incident, I do not deserve the evil eye. It is your JOB - DO IT! The following people were part of poor service: Andy and Janice.

This place is the pits. I ordered a blackjack burger but after waiting probably 20 minutes for the burger to come out, it was the wrong burger. When I told the waitress she seemed pretty upset that I had the nerve to send it back. When they finally sent out the correct burger, the bun was cold. At that point I just ate the burger. And what a burger it was, flavorless and not spicy at all. This place is terrible.

While the bar was really nice with a rustic charm & had a large open space, the staff lacked the same charm. There were 2 bartenders, both of which left a bad taste in my mouth (and I had a good beer so it wasn't the beer). First, I asked the female bartender if the kitchen was open; she said it closed already. Fair enough. However, 10 minutes later, a man sat down w/ 2 others and a bit later, a basket of cheese fries was brought out. If the kitchen was closed, that's fine, but the bartender could've at least said, "our kitchen is closed, but the fryer is on. We are serving X, Y, and/or Z." Secondly, I asked the other bartender (male) to turn the tv to the Phillies game. He acted dubious and looked at the tv for 15 seconds before walking away and never coming back to us (I am a female with my male friend). Moral of the story? We had 1 beer and left; one and done! Will I be back?? You do see my star rating, right?

  • Mike R.

Have been here a few times, went Friday with Friends hoping to eat drink and watch the elite 8 games; food was average, service was average to poor for a sports bar, craft beer selection was above average, mixed drinks were over iced, noise was above average even for a sports bar and as always, parking is a nightmare even with the comp valet parking. If you do go, get a table in the back bar area, avoid the tables in the side sections upfront, stick to the simple fare and get there early if it is on a weekend due to the parking.

Here's a place to which I shall not return. The food - ehhhh, greasy kid stuff The service at the outdoor bar - why, when and where in hell does the one bartender at an outdoor bar disappear for 10 minutes at a time? HELP!!!! She probably was sneaking a smoke at least 2 times an hour, you can hear it in her gruffy voice. The beer - they had 1 or 2 acceptable choices for me, plus the usual dirty bar beer choices that the local beer swine can drink cheap if they pick the right day. Let's give that the one redeeming social value of this POS and call it a day.

I've always liked Magerk's and after having their $5 sushi rolls this evening, I love Magerk's. Gotta love a place that puts no restrictions on which particular rolls are $5 and gives the $2 Miller lite/$4 House Wine happy hour special to the whole restaurant rather than just the bar. Bravo Magerk's, Bravo.

Love Magerk's! I'm a big fan of their pork roll in a pretzel roll sandwich. My fiancé said he would choose it as his last meal ever. You can get edamame as a side order but I love their sweet potato fries, too. They have great mixed drink features in mason jars. The outside seating area is really cute.

Noisy and fun. Good pub food in a huge place drinks are a little expensive but good. Close to my house so a great standby when we don't want to cook or travel too far. Live music some nights though we have never stayed late enough. Worth going. Gets really crowded on the weekends.

Just got home from a late dinner with the wife . Place was crowded but we were greeted immediately Mostly because we were charged a 5$ cover charge . Not a huge deal I guess even tho we were just there for dinner Service was prompt and attentive without being invasive Even for being a crowded Friday night we didn't wait long for drinks Menu was a tad limited for my liking and more expensive than we're Used to for the area . That being said the food was very tasty . The French onion soup Was very good. My wife loved the sweet potato sushi. The fried picked were tasty, but soggy. Only thing I wouldn't order Again. I will say that the crab cake sandwich is the best crab cake I've eaten outside of Maryland . I was blown away at all the real Lump crab meat and at the absence of filler. All in all I would definitely visit again. There not Reinventing the wheel here, but it's good pub food With cold beer and good service . What more can u Ask for ..

While I don't eat there daily, I've visited MaGerk's many times in the past year for lunch, dinner, and company holiday party. I've never had a bad experience, even when my wife's family came down and we walked in asking for a table for 9 at 10:00 PM for a late dinner. They were completely accommodating and the waitress was very nice and attentive. The food is consistent and very good. While they have a slightly limited menu for vegetarians, they actually have options, so I won't complain. For vegetarians, the veggie quesadilla is very good, as well as the grilled cheese paired with a soup. They also have salads and... sushi, which I haven't tried. Once they had a hot veggie sandwich as a special. This was delicious, but I haven't seen it since. PLEASE bring it back as a regular item. They recently added an outdoor patio area, which seems very nice. They have two fire pits. The wife and I haven't been there for the outdoor area/fire pit, so we're looking forward to that this coming summer. It's a nice, casual place that's not hard on the wallet. Absolutely recommend MaGerk's.

This old pub is getting to be one of our favorite haunts. The reason is because ANYTHING that you order from the menu will be VERY good and VERY fresh. I usually order the fantastic burgers and fries or the salads. I'm also a fan of their real Maryland style crab cake sandwich and their crab soup. But, recently, when they had sushi on special, I decided to give that a try. I wasn't expecting too much. The sushi was fantastic. They also have a good beer selection, and friendly service. In the summertime, it's nice to sit outside at their new outdoor seating area. The place does get kind of noisy on weekend nights, but, it is a bar and grill, so I guess some people like it that way ....

Magerks is a pretty decent bar. Being that it's the only bar in the area that can fit more than about 30 people in it makes it a lot more likable. Some other pluses about Magerks would be that there are two separate rooms, each with its own large bar. On Saturday nights they have bands play in the back room. The live music is almost always a positive, but I have seen some duds perform. Drinks are reasonable and the bartenders are pretty friendly. The one thing I'm not very fond of at Magerks is the menu. Its not that the food is bad, because it's not, but the selection is kind of limited. It's a large menu in size but it's all pretty similar. You have your basic bar food with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and other finger foods. I just expected more from a place their size. Pretty disappointed. There's also a cover on Saturday nights so bring cash. Like Magerks, don't love it.

MaGerks is an awesome place to grab a couple beers and watch the games on TV. Food is good (hot wings, pulled pork nachos & Cajun burger are my faves)....also have a good sushi selection. Outdoor patio is cool too and check our their live bands!

Magerks is a good spot for an easy dinner and beer. They typically have a good mix of tap options (your domestics, a few locals and at least one ipa, usually a 60 minute). The Tuesday specials and outdoor patio are great. For food we love the spicey BBQ wings and crab pretzal. the burgers and cheesesteaks are pretty reliable. try the magerk buger or cheesesteak for a taste pf philly. also, i love that they let adults orde the kids menu options (the sliders with tots are great). In general I would say this is an easy, consistently good spot.

Great place! Most bar tenders are great, blond Hair bar tender Kevin is the Best! Never wait For a beer and food is great, old bay wings& Mussels awesome!!!! Only bad thing is numerous Kids running around bar area & sitting at bar I've Noticed at several occasions. I also have children But I get baby sitter, I don't bring them to bar! When I do bring them they sit at table and behave. That's what chucky cheese and Applebee's are For.

I was here last night for the first time in a few months, and I had a much better time than I had in the last couple visits. I just had a couple drinks, so I can't comment on the food. But the service was great, and I'm happy about that.

This place is what you make of it, it can be cool, it can be lame, there really isn't ever to much going on but a band playing here and there and karaoke on the occasional night. Have had some really crappy service, and really great service, which is why they get 3 stars and not two, and 3 stars and not 4. They also have atleast 2 or 3 pretty good beers and rest is all the same-lame usual suspects.

Excellent bar food. Large and diverse draught beer list. Appetizers are large and should be shared. Don't miss the Tempura Pickles (battered and fried pickle spears) and the crab dip. Their burgers, steak sandwiches, etc are unique, flavorful and made of good quality ingredients. Now the disappointing. We were a table of 12, celebrating a birthday. 4 of the 12 were kids. Our server was, to say the least, highly unmotivated. She took our drink order (had little knowledge of the beer list) and disappeared. Finally took our food order and disappeared. We weren't a huge drinking group, but no one was ever offered a second drink or refill. EVERY adult had a beer or cocktail and we were basically ignored after the first round. The food arrived, but not all at the same time. The youngest at the table, a 3-year-old, never received her chicken fingers until everyone else was finished eating. I have been to MaGerks many times previously. The service had never been subpar. That said, if this were the first time, it would have been the last. We will go bacl because the food is very good.

Went Saturday with a friend. Service was extremely slow and the place was not crowded. I asked for a medium rare cheeseburger. How hard can that be? It came well done and tasted like a meatloaf burger, it had filler, spices and was not a "burger". My friend had the bourbon ribs, it sounded good but was just ok, no real bourbon flavor. If you are expecting anything like TGI Fridays bourbon sauce, think again and they certainly did not fall off the bone. It took forever to get our check and leave. the wait staff just seemed to disappear.

Awesome food! (try the old bay wings) Dynamic drinks (Corona-Rita) and the service is good too. My favorite bartender Kevin is super sweet! (haaaaay Kev!) I love coming here for a quick happy hour stop. The outdoor patio area is so beautifully done. There is a live band on Saturdays. hmmm what else can I say? all around great place!

Fun events like trivia and karaoke Food: A (deliciously prepared, well seasoned, and a good selection.) Drink A (full service bar and happy hour prices ex: "$2 drafts". Beer selection is semi typical of all the local bars Rogue dead guy, sam Adams seasonal, sam Adams lager, DFH 60 min, yuinglig, Guinness, Victory hopdevil... ) Atmosphere: B (the hard wood areas are nice, but in the back bar where they host events they have very uncomfortable chairs... and it is very strangely laid out: almost sitting on top of everyone elses table.. yet its such a big room with a lot of empty space, cant they just move the tables a little? You'd think they would........) Service: C (depending who you get you could be there with an empty glass with your tongue hanging out for half an hour or get filled up in 30 seconds. Geez, one time I went in with my friends (5 of us total) and I got completely ignored since i was in the corner seat.. my friends had to order me beers.) Overall: good food, nice atmosphere

MaGerks is a fun. The first time I went my burger was delicious, the second time it was a little overcooked. When I mentioned it to the waitress she offered to bring me a new one and when I said it was ok, she insisted on giving me a free dessert. I thought that was nice. Overall a good experience.

Back in the day this building was home to the Bent Elbow. In those days it was more rough around the edges with pretty basic bar-food options. On the bright side you could get everything on ginormous English muffins. Since it's become MaGerks, though, I'm much more of a fan. They serve a very good whole-lump sautéed crab cake. Better still, you can get the crab cakes (or burgers or whatnot) on a large pretzel roll. I've also had their hot open-faced turkey sandwiches which are good (the gravy can be hit or miss). Recently they've begun accompanying the bar style food with homemade potato chips which are tasty! At times it can get pretty packed in there, the service can be slow but generally speaking they've always been friendly with me and responsive when there's been an issue with my meal.

Ohh Magerks, I had so much hope for you. I kept driving by as you remodeled the old Bent Elbow, looking at the "Coming Soon" sign, reading the reviews for your locations in Maryland and waiting for you to open. The first time I walked in and saw the great job you did completely renovating the inside, I thought I was going to be adding a new restaurant/bar to my local haunts. Unfortunately the experience went down hill from there. The waitress was friendly, but slow in getting to us and inattentive throughout the meal. The food is OK, but the portions are smaller and more expensive than your rivals. The beer selection is good, but again the prices are higher. In conclusion, there's really nothing terribly wrong with Magerks, they just missed the competitive mark. If you're thinking of stopping at Magerks for food don't bother, you're better off continuing up Bethlehem Pike to Halligans or to Fatty's in Wyndmoor. Both Fatty's and Halligans have food that is as good or better, larger portions, and cheaper prices. Magerks is a good place for happy hour or drinks on Friday or Saturday night as the crowd is younger than Halligans and there is more space than Fatty's.

Went to Magerks for a quick, low-key, bite to eat. I was impressed by the food here. I had the best chicken fingers I've had in a long time. I'm use to getting dried out/burnt chicken fingers at bars but this was not the case at Magerks. They were cooked perfectly. I tried Calamari for the second time here and it was better here than the first place I tried. I also had Edamame. The staff was really nice as well. Would definitely revisit Magerks.

MaGurk's has taken a building that used to house a drink-till-you-puke college bar (the Bent Elbow) and classed it up a bit. It's now a combination of a restaurant and a sports bar, with multiple small dining rooms around the periphery of the two large bar areas. It's a strange setup, presumably dictated by the shape of the Victorian building that houses it. The appearance of the interior has been greatly improved, so I wasn't embarrassed by taking my wife there for an anniversary drink. The menu at MaGurks could be called upscale bar food, but not gastropub. If I were a sports fan, I think I'd enjoy the rear bar. It seemed like there were enough high-definition TVs that every game could be seen from every seat of this rectangular bar. I actually don't watch sports, but the wife and I will probably be back for drinks and comfort food.

Updating to 4 stars from 3, has been consistently pretty good lately. with great service. I've been here several times, usually better to sit at the bar (front or back) because tables in the main room have no separation from the bar, so you are staring at everyone's butt while you eat. Also, separate rooms are sometimes full of families with kids since this place is pretty inexpensive. The good - friendly staff all the way around, good beer selection, good healthy food selection - ahi tuna wrap with edamame side is great - plus all the regular pub staples. We don't get dinners here but all the sandwiches have been fine, I'm not going to rave over a cheese steak and hot roast beef but they are good.

I am going to fess up and say that my husband and I are regulars...probably too regular. I read the reviews and the poor ones are a bit odd so I thought I'd clear a few things up. MaGerks is a BAR. It has pub style food and they do it well. If you were looking for something else, please don't write a bad review because you were expecting something else. My favorite thing on the menu is the grilled shrimp wrap. Grilled shrimp, lots of avocado, lettuce and 'boom-boom' sauce. The sauce it spicy and creamy but they don't overdo it. You also get a side of edamame. In the cooler months, I really like their French Onion soup. I tend to shy away from it at other places b/c it can be way too salty but theirs is excellent. Their salads are also top notch. The Magerk's house salad has mixed greens, dried cranberries, blue cheese and sugared pecans. A close second is the apple salad but I like that more in the fall. The service at the bar is excellent. The bartenders remember you and they are very attentive. It is true that if they don't know you, they will ask for a credit card. They will keep it as well. This is not unusual for any bar, especially a large one where you can't keep track of where a customer is standing after they have been served. If you are there for a game, you can't go wrong, all their tv's are positioned so that you can a great view from just about anywhere in the bar. They have an insane amount of tv's as well as a large projection in the back bar. I love this place for the atmosphere, the people and the food. If you are looking for a friendly bar, sit at the bar and enjoy1

Didn't eat here so my review is only based on the service experience of being in a private room at the bar. Everything was as expected. Servers were helpful and friendly and the complimentary valet wasn't bad either. Especially since the parking lot was packed and the weather is getting colder by the minute. If I could make one suggestion it would be for larger "Rocks" Glasses. I'm sure the pour size is the same at most bars, but I prefer the larger glasses to the smaller ones.

The food--regular pub food---was ordinary, and the service somewhat indifferent, though that got better as the meal went on...until I tipped over my coffee. But that's a story for later. I ordered the mussels (our server said they were really good), and I did get a giant order for $12--something like two pounds' worth. But they were very dry, despite the marinara sauce, which (I suspect) was just a can of diced tomatoes warmed and dumped into the bowl. No flavor or spices to the sauce, such that the mussels were something to be dragged out of their shells and consumed because I needed to eat something, rather than treats I looked forward to. My companion had the French onion soup (which was good) and a burger (not so good). Dessert (key lime pie, $6 I think) was good, not great. When I accidentally spilled my coffee at the end of the meal, our server brought a rag so that I could clean up the table, bench, and floor. Uh...oh-kay... I'm fine with informality, and the spill was absolutely my fault, but I was sort of surprised, especially since the restaurant was nearly empty (it was mid-afternoon), and my companion was an elderly lady. We weren't rowdy young-uns. I also would have liked a refill of coffee (hey, it was decaf!), but no such luck. She must have thought I was too jittery to handle another. Anyway, when we left the place we looked at each other and said, "I don't think we'll be coming back. Ordinary." We agreed that it was not terrible--that award goes to Halligan's Pub in Flourtown--but it wasn't worth going back to. The revamped Broad Axe Tavern is a far better bet, with better food and a warmer ambience. (Speaking of which, consider bringing a jacket...Magerk's is a cavernous stone place that's pretty cold inside.)

Good joint for a sandwich and a drink. Went tonight...I had the pork sandwich with spinach, roasted red peppers and provolone cheese. Hubby had the Magerk cheesesteak. $2 Drafts and $4 House wines. Good music playing and servers were friendly.

Can't beat this place for pub food, especially seafood dishes. Menu is varied, food is good or even great at times and servers are friendly. They added salads, smart idea. If you're looking for cuisine, go somewhere else. But for solid bar food, reasonably priced, and a comfortable atmosphere, check out Magerks.

Have stopped by a few times. Very nice job in the remodel from the Bent Elbow days. Food was decent and bar staff friendly. They do have a really nice Crabmeat-Philadelphia Soft Pretzel combo that is interesting. Looks as if there could be enough TVs to make for a good weekend football stop.

Yes, this is a very nice casual pub with a great outside bar and seating. The menu is ingenious, not just regular pub/bar food but sushi and other different items. The prices for drinks are reasonable, service is great, and the place is roomy with a nice laid back crowd. Just wish we lived closer we would go more often.

I ate at Magerks a few times and never liked the food but my friends like it here. I was very excited to see they had fried pickles on the menu, but they were horrible and nothing like the delicious fried pickles I've had elsewhere. The meat eaters claim that the crab cake sandwich is the best around, so you may want to try that. However, the service was so slow. The waiter continually passed our table and didn't take our orders and when he finally did it took an hour for them to come out of the kitchen, and for me it was NOT worth the wait. I ordered the tomato soup and the salad. After eating the tomato soup I felt so sick that I called the restaurant to ask if there were any meat products in the soup. They denied having meat ingredients in the soup but the women I talked to said she felt horrible after she ate the soup too. I have no idea why the kitchen would keep this on their menu, when even employees complain about feeling sick. I still don't know why it made me feel so horrible, but I can tell you that after that experience I don't want to go back there.

Ok, finally saw that it opened up went in and oooooo what a flashback to the days of drinking till the wee hrs. The old bent elbo bar will bring back memories to anyone whoever went there. I went in for a drink to see the football game. I say it is one of the better looking places if you want to get a burger and a drink (will be going back to try the burger). For the time there, they have and I mean the best TV placement of any bar in the burb's that I see. The TV's are plentiful and big, thus a mooseman will not block your view. It remains to see if the place carries the nfl, baseball,or hockey network, meaning more than one game,if they don't then they should for all the tv's. I'll be back there!

I went to Magerk's after work with two coworkers. I had one of the best crab bisque soups EVER! Followed by chicken steak egg rolls, with so much meat - I could hardly finish them. My friends had nachos (huge) and wings (said they were delish). Since it was Happy hour Drafts were $1.50!!! Three of us ate, drank and were thrilled... for $40! Can't wait to go back.

I think this is a great pub. I only wish it was closer to my home. We need a place like Magerks near my house! :) The food is great. Wonderful quality. My only complaint is the menu is HUGE yet very repetitive. The specials are always awesome. It's a great place for families and adults. I never hesititate bringing my kids or stopping with friends. It an all around great place. LOVE it!!

Magerks just opened up in a turn of the century building that used to be known as the Bent Elbo. There is not much that really remains of the Elbo other than the entrance. Magerks has two other establishmants in Maryland and just opened their third back in PA where the owners are originally from. This place is brand new from the ground up and features new woodwork, pointed block, granite bar tops, and a nice new menu. When I first walked in I thought it kind of looked like the new Princeton down in Avalon, NJ with the dark wood and shiny hardwoods. The crowd was a mixed aged group and there were plenty of children running around (family friendly w/ a kids menu) before the 9 pm hour. Magerks has 20+ flat screen TVs throughout the bar that makes watching sports easy from any location in the bar. They have a new menu which offers something for everyone on any budget including soups, appetizers, entrees, and sandwiches. If you are in the area check this place out for lunch or happy-hour.
